A terrible car crash has left Henley Boone lying unconscious in the middle of the road. A handsome stranger comes to her aid. He introduces himself as Aidan and takes Henley to the nearest medical center. The doctor finds no sign of a concussion. Of course, Henley may want to get a second opinion considering the fact that Aidan accidently brought her to a veterinarian.

Aidan feels like a fool. If only there were some way he could make it up to Henley. The vacancy sign at the motel across the street gives him an idea. Henley hits the sheets with Aidan without even knowing his last name. Later, Henley tucks the hammer she swiped from Dot's boarding house into her handbag. Aidan asks if they can see each other again. That'll work. Since her car is totaled, Henley isn't going anywhere.

Tommy and Big Dave dig for bodies in the location Jerry Friddle provided, but come up empty. Back at the sheriff's station, Dan Farmer believes they'll be able to track down Friddle's murderer with ease. They already deduce that killer is a large, strong man and tire tracks from the crime scene are currently being analyzed at the lab. Tommy tells Big Dave that he should get himself a new set of radials.

The Stiviletto brothers file a criminal complaint against Tommy for the sound thrashing he gave them. Hobbs believes a fifth Stiviletto brother, Greggy, may have convinced his siblings to press charges. But they put Greggy in prison five years ago. Why would he want to exact his revenge now?

Andrew still believes Georgia was smacked around by her drunk of a dad. He takes a crowbar to his own car to convince his buddies that Carl Bravin has it out for him. Andrew and his friends head over to the Bravin place to seek revenge. A fight on the front porch ends when Carl stabs Andrew in the stomach.

Upon questioning, Carl tells his side of the story. He believes Andrew is a bully, just like his father. Carl doesn't blame John Haplin for his anger, as his daughter is one of those who went missing years ago. Carl says, "I saw the Magic Man once." He goes on to reveal that the Magic Man carried a walking stick because of a limp. He also had a bird with him. It was a big, nasty bird with wings of fire. He called that bird Cicero.

John Haplin wants Carl charged in the attack of his son, but Tommy doesn't quite buy Andrew's story. Neither does his grandmother. Peggy Haplin tells Andrew that Georgia Bravin is a sweet, spirited girl. But she suggests he keep his options open. When Tommy sees broken glass in the Haplin garage, he realizes that Andrew smashed up his own car and arrests him.

Rachel and Emma meet Merritt Grieves as he films a bird that looks a lot like the one that crashed into Henley's car. Grieves says that some cultures believe that frequent appearance of such a bird serves as a harbinger of things to come. At the movie memorabilia shop, Grieves gives Emma a journal. It's a special book in which the writing inside disappears when you tap the cover three times.

The entire town has gathered at the annual Thaw Fest celebration, including the Stiviletto brothers. They inform Tommy that they are dropping the complaint against him. Why? Well, their brother Greggy has something else in mind for Tommy. Guess it's a good thing Greggy still has two years left on his sentence.

Henley makes another phone call in which she refers to herself as Chloe, but hangs up abruptly when she notices the evil-headed hammer is missing from her handbag. The last place she saw it was in the motel room with Aidan. She wonders if he saw it, too. And did he steal it? Later, the mysterious Aidan walks through the crowd at Thaw Fest to find the Stiviletto brothers. They're very happy to see him. After all, they are family. They even know his full name: Aidan Gregory Stiviletto.

Amidst the fun of Thaw Fest, John Haplin confronts Tommy about the arrest of his son. But their argument is interrupted when Emma comes running up looking for her mom. Tommy calls Rachel's cell, which can be heard ringing in the distance. It's in her purse which rests on the ground next to the book Merritt Grieves gave to Emma. But Rachel Conroy is nowhere to be found. Has the Magic Man struck again?
