Dave's dad, Big Dave (guest star Michael McKean), is coming to town for a Cubs convention. This will be the first time Dave has seen his pop since he split with his mom. That's why it's quite a surprise when Big Dave shows up with a brand new girlfriend. Of course, the biggest shocker is the fact that his new lady love is Penny's mom, Dana (guest star Megan Mullally).

Penny is elated about this parental pairing. She immediately starts teasing her new little brother. But Dave isn't thrilled to see how Dana has changed his dad. Big Dave won't even try his son's latest steak sandwich creation because he's off red meat. Dave is also bummed to learn they'll be going to a holistic expo called Heal Chicago before they can play ball at the Cubs convention.

An angry Dave acts like a child. He even insults Heal Chicago's special guest Ed Begley, Jr. Dana wants him to sing out his angry thoughts. That's not gonna happen. Dave hides out in his old bedroom even though a new family lives there. Eventually, Dave comes around. He makes nice with his dad, though he still refuses to sing things out like they do in his faux big sister's family.

Alex is lonely, so she gets a parrot from Craiglist. His name is Tyler and he's a racist/homophobic little birdie. But the big news of the day is that suspicious middle-aged white guys are always going into Hop Sing's, the Chinese restaurant across the street. Alex, Max and Brad do a stakeout where they see lots of Asian women entering the place. They conclude that Hop Sing's is front for an illegal sex ring. Cool!

Alex, Max and Brad go undercover just like they do on The Wire. They eat lots of Chinese food until they see a guy they believe is there looking for sex. In reality, this suspicious middle-aged guy is just teaching an "English as a Second Language" class in the back room. This embarrassing incident spurs Max to admit that he's never actually seen The Wire.
