As Nick settles into a new life with Adalind and baby Kelly, Hank gets assigned a new partner, Pogue, with whom he investigates a grisly murder at an investment firm. Hank and Wu believe the suspect, Paul Wemlinger, is a Wesen that murdered his boss after he was caught embezzling money. To confirm, Hank calls in Nick, who identifies Wemlinger as a Quijada Vil, a Gila monster-like Wesen.
But before Nick or Hank can do anything, U.S. Marshals take Wemlinger into custody for a different crime. While en route to Sacramento, Wemlinger murders the marshals and escapes. Nick, Hank and Wu track him to the home of his accomplice, Betty, another employee at the firm. Wemlinger again tries to escape but is quickly taken down by Nick, Hank and Wu. When Nick and Hank return to the apartment to apprehend Betty, she Woges into a Drang-Zorn and tells Nick that not even a Grimm can stop what's coming.
She then shouts, "Occultus Liberare," and jumps from a window to her death. Monroe translates her last words to mean "free the hidden." It seems the threat Agent Chavez warned about is already in Portland.
