A new episode begins where last week's left off, with a pair of masked men approaching the Spice Shop as Elizabeth analyzes Adalind's spell. Noting the many transformations Adalind would've had to undergo for the spell to work - losing her powers to a Grimm, regaining her powers, pregnancy - Elizabeth realizes she underestimated Adalind.

Her train of thought is broken when a brick comes flying through the window - but not just any brick, one marked with a Wolfsangel. Monroe explains to Rosalee that the word means wolf trap in German and Elizabeth adds that some Wesen are against mixed Wesen marriages. The incident rattles Rosalee but Monroe consoles her by promising that once Nick's situation has been resolved, they're going on their honeymoon.

At Nick and Juliette's house, the couple is about to have dinner when Juliette goes to fetch Trubel and realizes she's gone, having left only her black knight behind. Nick deduces Trubel is at the trailer and upon his arrival there, Trubel reveals how she was kidnapped by Agent Chavez. Trubel thinks it's best she leave town but Nick convinces her to stay, saying they have yet to figure out what Chavez is up to. Meanwhile, Monroe, Rosalee and Elizabeth have nearly completed recreating Adalind's spell. Elizabeth sends Monroe and Rosalee home while she adds the finishing touches in full Hexenbiest woge.

Elsewhere in Portland, a drunken Keith breaks into his ex-wife Sarah's house. When her son, David, gets in between Keith and Sarah, Keith woges and knocks his stepson to the ground. Sarah manages to strike Keith a few times before fleeing the scene with David and driving to the hospital. There, her brother Ben comes to visit and sees the injuries Keith has caused. Unable to stand idly by, Ben, a rabbi, returns to his synagogue and retrieves some old scrolls and a jar of red clay. Speaking in Hebrew, Ben prays for David's protection.

At that moment, a stumbling Keith walks onto Sarah's front yard to see a towering figure made of red clay emerge from the ground. It swallows Keith whole, leaving behind a corpse oozing clay out of every orifice, which Wu discovers after responding to Sarah's domestic violence call. When Nick and Hank arrive at the scene, Wu identifies the victim just as Keith's brother, Nate, shows up, swearing Sarah is responsible.

To discern if any Wesen are involved, Nick and Hank bring Trubel along to visit Sarah at the hospital. While they break the news to Sarah and Ben that Keith has been found dead, Trubel plays with David and his action figures, noting that the boy always lets the bad guy win. David reveals that when his stepdad gets mad, the monster comes out. Wesen connection established.

After learning about Keith, Ben checks out Sarah's house and finds red clay in the yard, leading him to call Hank and confess. At the synagogue, Ben does his best to convince Nick and Hank that his prayers raised a Golem, just like in the stories of old. While they can't arrest a man for praying, Nick and Hank offer to have the clay from Ben's jar tested to see if it matches the clay from the crime scene. Spoiler alert: It does.

The captain makes his triumphant return to the precinct that day and Wu wastes no time in seeking an audience with him. Wu shows Renard Trubel's surveillance photo and the captain gamely plays along. The days of Wu remaining in the dark seem increasingly numbered.

When Sarah and David return home from the hospital with Ben, they find Nate waiting for them. He punches Ben, throws Sarah out of the way and woges in front of David, trying to make him speak. Sarah calls the police, sending Nick and Hank on their way, but Nate has fled by the time they arrive. Ben agrees to show Nick and Hank where Nate lives while David requests the company of Trubel. A good Grimm and good with kids? Trubel's the full package.

In Vienna, Adalind and Hoffman are making their way up long, spiraling staircases but Adalind is growing impatient. Hoffman cautions her not to wake "them" - faces that appear in the walls and claim to know where Diana is. Hoffman warns Adalind not to listen but she is overcome with emotion. When she starts crying, so do the faces and Adalind soon finds herself drowning in a sea of tears.

Or does she? Because at the Spice Shop, Monroe and Rosalee return to find Adalind standing there in nothing but Monroe's plaid shirt. Monroe is ready to attack when Rosalee realizes it's not Adalind at all but Elizabeth, proving Project Potion Recreation was a success. She says there's just one ingredient missing.

On the way to Nate's house, Nick, Hank and Ben come across the Golem just as he's finished smothering Nate. Ben explains that the Golem is a guardian and as along as David feels threatened, it will continue to kill. To defeat it, Ben says he must write a Shem, or God's name. Then, the Shem must be put into the Golem's mouth. But how to summon the Golem without waiting for David to feel threatened? Leave it to Nick.

Returning to Sarah's home, the men and Trubel put the plan into action. Ben waits outside to receive David while Hank distracts Sarah. Trubel brings David outside where Nick gets angry with him, threatening to arrest him. In no time, the Golem manifests behind Nick. When Ben tries to slip the Shem into its mouth, he's knocked away. Nick gets tossed by the creature soon after. When Trubel jumps in to help Nick, the Golem turns on her. Seeing this, David rushes over and begins attacking the Golem. With each hit, the guardian crumbles until it fully dissolves. If only Wesen were as easy.

But the day's not over for Nick, who receives a visit at home from Monroe, Rosalee and Elizabeth later that night. They reveal they've managed to recreate Adalind's spell and know how to get Nick's powers back. There's just one more key ingredient: Juliette. Tune in next week to learn how Nick's ladylove figures into the return of his Grimm abilities.
