Nick, Juliette, Monroe, Rosalee and Trubel sit down for a lovely dinner during which Trubel tells the group about her disturbing past and her first gruesome Wesen encounter as a child. During the dinner, a young man named Josh calls Nick, but panics and hangs up before he can deliver his message. Josh returns to his hotel room where he meets with his father, Rolek, and informs him that Nick is indeed the man they seek. Who are these strangers from Pennsylvania, and what do they want with Nick?

Before the conversation can continue, a Wesen hitman breaks through the door and attacks Josh. In the heat of the fight, Josh's father stabs the attacker through the chest with a sword. Josh is appalled by the murder, but Rolek assures his son that the man is a member of the Verrat. He shows Josh a tattoo on the attacker's palm as proof, but Josh refuses to buy into his father's fantasies. Josh may not understand it, but Rolek is a Grimm! He's also gravely ill, which may explain why he is searching for Nick.

Juliette attempts to bond with Trubel by taking her clothes shopping, but Trubel is reluctant to grow too comfortable in Portland. She doesn't think it's going to last long. Meanwhile, Adalind schedules an appointment at Juliette's vet clinic for a cat that she doesn't have. What exactly is she up to? Renard is wondering the same thing, so he instructs Wu to keep an eye on Adalind for the next few days.

After fleeing the hotel, Rolek and Josh hide out in an abandoned gas station. Rolek, in severe pain, tells his son to take a page from his Grimm journal to Nick. Josh doesn't understand, but Rolek assures his son that Nick will return to the gas station with him. Josh is reluctant, but he'll do anything to fulfill his father's last wishes.

Meanwhile, at the police station, Nick and Hank look over the crime scene photos from the hotel room.A Verrat tattoo on the victim's hand gives Nick every reason to be interested in the case. Renard knows that they need to find Rolek and Josh as soon as possible.

Josh stops by Nick's house to deliver the drawing, per his father's wishes. Nick is at work and Trubel answers the door. She takes one look at Rolek's drawing and knows that she has to call Nick immediately. When Nick doesn't answer, Trubel heads to meet Rolek alone. Patience is not her strongest suit.

At the gas station, Trubel meets Rolek. The old man shows Trubel his trunk of Grimm relics and explains that he needs to get the trunk to Nick before it's too late. Meanwhile, Adalind breaks into Nick and Juliette's house and steals some of Juliette's clothing and hair. Renard intercepts Adalind and finds the items she stole. He demands that she tell him what she's up to, but Adalind knocks Renard unconscious and escapes.

Meanwhile, Rolek's illness is getting the best of him. Josh and Trubel rush him to the hospital, but the only thing on Rolek's mind is getting the trunk - and a special key - to Nick. A Verrat agent posing as a police officer calls Josh, and Josh tells him that he and his father are in the hospital. The Verrat are on their way. Trubel finally gets Nick on the phone, and he rushes to the hospital as well. The race is on!

Nick and Hank beat the Verrat to the hospital. Hank stays with the trunk while Nick talks to Rolek, who is already beginning to lose consciousness. Josh is stunned that his father's incoherent ramblings make perfect sense to Nick and Trubel. Before Rolek can tell Nick the location of his key, Rolek loses consciousness. Nick already knows that the Verrat are on their way, though. The fight is coming to them.

Outside, Hank spots three men scoping out Rolek's car. Nick heads outside, urging Trubel to stay inside. Of course, she refuses to cooperate. As Hank confronts the three men in the parking lot, a fourth Verrat agent nearly hits Hank with a car. Nick and Trubel arrive just in time to help Hank fight off the Verrat, and Trubel proves herself a formidable opponent in a fistfight.

Nick heads back inside to learn that Rolek has passed away. Nick tells Josh to come by his house later and he'll explain who his father really was. Back at the house, Nick and Trubel sort through Rolek's relics. His book contains descriptions of Wesen that Nick has never encountered before, but they can't seem to find the key Rolek was talking about. Finally, Nick investigates Rolek's cane. The cane is a puzzle box that Hank solves, and in a few short moments they have Rolek's key!

Nick uses Rolek's key to add to the map that his key creates. It's not much more detailed, but Monroe quickly identifies it as the Black Forest region of Germany. Whatever the map leads to, it must be in the Black Forest. Meanwhile, Adalind cooks up an old-school witch recipe to transform herself into Juliette. What is this crazy hexenbiest up to?!
