Henry is called to examine a package that was left at the police station. It appears to be bleeding, but that's only because there's a human heart inside. It was cut out a few days ago from the body of a call girl named Mary Kelly. Henry finds the spot where the killer was hiding. A door leading to a freight elevator is found nearby. The killer took her to a sausage plant. Mary Kelly's bloody body is found in the same way the body of a Mary Kelly was found in the 1800s. The latter lady was killed by Jack the Ripper.

Henry receives a call from his fan, who knows details about the case that haven't yet been released. He races to find the burner phone that was being used on the other end of the call. It's been abandoned. Henry brings Abe up to speed. He believes they have to find the killer themselves. He wants Abe to question a rival antique dealer known as the Frenchman, who is actually a woman, about the old knife that was used in the crime.

Henry and Jo head down to the library to follow up on a lead. A name used in a logbook is a variation of the inspector from the original Jack the Ripper case. Jo spots a possible suspect who bolts. She captures him while Henry gets a call from his fan. He says the killer won't just be copying Jack the Ripper. He'll also be emulating the Black Dahlia murderer. As for the library suspect, he's just a writer who was doing research for his graphic novel series "Soul Slasher." An Internet fan page may help ID the killer.

Another murder victim is found. She has elements of the Black Dahlia killer as well as the Boston Strangler. These killers were featured in the "Soul Slasher" series. A suspect from the fan page is tracked down. He's an obnoxious 18-year-old kid named Devon Bentley. Henry uses the Frenchman's ledger, which Abe swiped, to determine that the knife at was sold at her shop. The buyer wasn't Devon though. It was his father, Mark.

Mark Bentley stabs Henry as he exits the Frenchman's shop. He heads back inside. Henry is able to stagger in to save the Frenchman. He tackles Bentley. They tumble down the stairs. Henry's back is broken. Bentley heads back upstairs where Jo is waiting. BANG! BANG! BANG! Jo shoots the killer dead. Downstairs, a gravely injured Henry is visited by his fan. It wouldn't be good for either of them if Jo saw him die. So the fan slits Henry's throat.

Henry awakens in the river. He realizes that his fan knows everything about him. This has him worrying about Abe, who has a scarier individual to deal with at the moment. He's off to the hospital to apologize to the Frenchman.

Lieutenant Reece checks on Jo. It's good to have someone to talk to seeing as how she took a life. Fortunately, Henry is there to share a drink with her. He's glad she's feeling so awful. She must allow herself to feel the pain, guilt and sorrow. Later, Henry's fan calls again. He taunts him by saying he knows him. Henry says, "Not as well as you think." He hangs up and tosses the fan's burner phone into the river.
