Henry deduces that sometimes he stays dead longer than other times. It could be a clue in discovering the reason behind his immortality. He wants to grow old. Abe assures him that just because he doesn't age, that doesn't mean he can't evolve.

A young punk steals an elderly man's briefcase. He takes off into the night. The old man, Bill Sale, chases after him. He's surprisingly fast and strong. The old man catches the punk. He proceeds to punch him in the face repeatedly until he has some sort of attack. Moments later, the old man is dead. Henry and Lucas see that their latest corpse has a completely buff body. He was in great shape for a 67-year-old man. Too bad his brain was more like a hundred years old.

Bill Sale's son says his dad never had a body like the one he has now. After his mom died, his father became a different person. The victim had thousands of dollars in his briefcase. Henry and Jo investigate the crime scene area to find the hidden offices of Aterna, an expensive supplement that has revolutionized aging according to Dr. Frederick Gardner. Henry swipes a sample of Aterna while Jo manages to secretly snag Gardener's prints.

Henry believes Dr. Gardner may be cutting corners with his wonder drug which could be turning the brains of his clients into Swiss cheese. Jo learns that the good doctor isn't a doctor at all. His real name is Harold Price. He had a wellness clinic in Miami before two of his patients died. It's time to pay the faux physician a house call at his party pad in the Hamptons. The doctor ends up dead shortly after Henry and Jo confront him.

Henry believes Gardner/Price's brain was in pretty bad shape thanks to Aterna. Flashbacks show past events where Henry had a friend, James, who suffered from tuberculosis. This has Henry believing that Aterna may be infected because the people who are taking it are actually consuming brains. Two bodies are missing from the morgue. After questioning Lucas, Henry and Jo realize the EMS guy, Anton Vann, is behind the disappearances. The guy caught red-handed in the act of brain theft.

Vann claims he made the Aterna himself. Henry doesn't buy it. The guy doesn't have the scientific knowledge to do so. Henry panics when he realizes Abe may have taken Aterna. He didn't. He did, however, go for a consultation. He's worried about what will happen to Henry when he's gone. Abe helps track down the chemist he talked to at the clinic. She was the woman who was with Gardener in the Hamptons. She's also Vann's sister, Sasha.

Abe catches sight of Sasha trying to board a subway train. He follows her. Henry has an idea of the direction in which they are heading. The race is on to find them. Abe follows Sasha when she exits the train. Henry and Jo catch up to the action.

Sasha is scared. She didn't know the Aterna was hurting people. Gardener was blackmailing her, so she asked her brother for help. She didn't know he was going to kill him. She's panicked. She tries to jump in front of an oncoming train. Henry saves her before she can. He lets Sasha know that she's much too young to die.

Flashbacks show how Henry's friend realized the beauty of life just before he died. In the present day, Abe convinces Henry to forgo time in the lab to help him with a very important task. He helps him engage in a skateboarding adventure because, well, you only live once.
