Sam was checking in on her grandma who was still in the hospital since the fire. Sam also told her grandma that she had suspicions about Alex starting the fire. Her grandma didn't think Alex was capable of that kind of harm. But, she did believe Alex needed some therapy.

Pratt was busy trying to inject an IV into a crazed junkie when Morris showed up with some pretty bad news. Pratt didn't have time for Morris, until Morris blurted out that Pratt's medical license had been suspended. This prompted for Hope to come clean to Morris and tell him she assisted Pratt with his project at the church.

Sam confided in Ben that Alex's therapist recommended him to be enrolled in a school for troubled youth. Ben didn't think that was such a bad idea, but Sam did. Ben offered to do background checks on the schools to see if they would be good for him. Sam also told Ben that she didn't have time for a relationship.

Morris broke the news that the stand up comedian she had as a patient was suffering from leukemia. Abby was having a hard time breaking the news to Simon because he kept making jokes about it. He later told Abby that he had leukemia before and now he couldn't believe it had come back.

Abby had asked Neela for an opinion on her leukemia patient but Neela was too preoccupied on listening to the conversation Gates was having with Sarah. Since Meg had died, Sarah had been having trouble in school and Gates offered to go pick her up. Neela turned to Ray and invited him to go get a cup of coffee with her.

Pratt was fighting for his license in front of the medical board. He was trying to get his point across that he was saving lives when giving free medication to those who needed it at the church. The board reminded Pratt that he could face prison for what he did. Pratt continued to defend his work with the church's free clinic.

Sam was trying to convince Simon the seriousness of his condition. He refused to listen and was only concerned about making a live gig later that night. She also had to break the news that since this was Simon's second bout with leukemia, he was not eligible for chemotherapy and his cancer was so rapid that he only had weeks to live.

Simon tried to leave the hospital and Abby had to stop him. He pleaded with her to let him go on stage one last time. He asked her if there was something she wanted to do so bad in her life and to imagine not being able to do it. She said she would work on letting Simon leave the hospital.

Simon collapsed before he could get ready to leave the hospital. As Morris, Abby and Sam tried to treat him, he awoke to let Abby know he remembered their deal of her letting him leave. Morris said there was no way Simon could perform stand up tonight.

After Neela performed her kidney transplant surgery, her patient wanted to meet the kind donor who saved her life. Neela knew that there was strict confidentiality clause the followed a transplant surgery, but understood where the donor recipient was coming from. So, she arranged for the meeting, only to be stopped by Crenshaw. Crenshaw complimented her on her efforts and let her continue.

Neela stopped by Gate's apartment with take out and wanted to know how Sarah was doing. He told her they were watching a movie and wanted Neela to join them, but she declined. Gates told Neela that when Meg was dying, she confessed that Sarah was really his child and there was a possibility she was right.

Pratt was awaiting the news on his fate, when the pastor from the church showed up to defend Pratt and the clinic. He also brought with him a group of people who wouldn't be in good health if it weren't for Pratt's generosity. Hope was there to show her support for Pratt. The board decided to give him probation and he would have to perform 100 hours of community service. Pratt was relieved.

The doctors were not even sure if Simon was going to make it through the night, so there was no way he was going to be able to perform on stage. Instead, they had Simon perform his final act for them. He had all the doctors and nurses laughing so hard. Later, Abby told Simon he brought the house down.

After her conversation with Simon about not waiting for things in life, Abby confronted Kovac and wanted him to ask her "the question" again. They both started giggling, then Kovac got down on one knee and a very blushing Abby watched.
