Gates found Neela in a break room catching some sleep. He woke her up and jokingly told her to get back to work. He also wanted to talk to her about their kissing session. Before they could talk, she interrupted him and told him it was a mistake on both of their parts.

Pratt came home early to find his little brother Chazz was already there. To Pratt's surprise, Chazz wasn't alone, he was with his gay lover. Pratt immediately ordered both men out of his apartment.

A little boy was brought into the ER for head trauma. He was climbing over a fence and fell. The little boy answered to the name of Paulie. His friend Taylor was there by Paulie's side and wouldn't leave. The doctors all feared that the Paulie had rabies and worked on him with extra caution.

Gates was in the parking lot trying to persuade a patient to come back to no avail. Pratt showed up and began yelling at Gates over another patient. Gates warned Pratt to not get too close, but Pratt continued his rant. The two came to blows, resulting in Pratt punching Gates in the face and then walking away.

A patient came in bloodied after a bar fight. His wife brought him in and she had a bruise on her face as well. Abby tried talking the man into getting treatment for his alcoholism. Kovac was less sympathetic to the man, accusing him of beating his wife. The man couldn't recall hitting his wife, claiming he loved her. Abby believed the wife when she said it was an accident.

Paulie was having difficulty breathing and Taylor ran out of the room. He started searching the hospital and ended up in surgery where he found Neela. He walked into the operating room and urged her come help Paulie. She tried getting rid of him. Taylor told Neela that only she could help Paulie and that he new her secret name, "May Day".

Weaver was shooting her news segment at the local elementary school when all of a sudden one of the students started choking. When the Heimlich didn't work, Weaver was forced to use a knife to cut a small hole in the girl's trachea to clear her passageway.

After work, Pratt came home to find Chazz packing his bags and leaving. Once Chazz walked out, Pratt felt guilty for kicking his brother out of the apartment and chased after him, convincing him to come back.

While working on Paulie, Taylor was taken out of the hospital by another homeless friend. Neela chased after Taylor and wanted him and his friend to get checked out for rabies, too. The kids both rejected Neela's help and when a passing car drove by, Neela looked up and both kids had vanished into thin air. Neela went searching for them.

Hope found Neela outside and told her to rush back into the ER because Paulie had a steady pulse and his heart rate was back to normal. Neela found it to be a miracle and went back in to the ER to check up on him.

A cop had arrived to fill out a report about a patient. Kovac took the cop into a private room to talk to him about another matter: Curtis Ames. Curtis had sent Kovac an envelope with a stuffed animal of Joe's inside of it. Kovac let the cop know he was afraid that Curtis might be threatening his family. He wanted the cop to talk to Curtis before he did anything drastic.

Meg and Gates went out to a movie and as they were walking to the theater, Gates thought it would be a good idea to bring up their relationship. He thought it was time that Meg moved on, and she agreed, only she wanted to move forward with him. Gates tried to end the relationship, and Meg made him feel guilty for his decision.

While waiting for Kovac to finish work, Abby went across the street to pick up dinner. She befriended a man from Texas who was in town visiting a friend at the hospital. Kovac showed up later to pick Abby up. Abby wanted to know if there was anything wrong, but Kovac assured her everything was taken care of.

Hope came by to check up on Neela and Paulie. Neela informed her that Paulie was going to be induced into a coma in order to treat the rabies. Hope told Neela that even though Paulie's friends didn't make a lot of sense in their ramblings, it still helps that they believed in something and that was all that really mattered.
