ER Episode 12.11 If Not Now

Luka starts taking down his Christmas decorations but Abby wants him to leave the tree. She doesn't want to talk about the baby. Luka says it's her choice whether she wants to keep it or not.

Neela wheels in Kerry because she fell on the ice. Ray asks for a few weeks off because his band got a recording deal and he needs to leave for Los Angeles. She says there's no way.

Victor talks to Jodie about her husband. He's worried that he may find her and worse — him. Jodie hasn't thought about it and Victor calls her stupid for not taking everything into account.

Neela helps Amanda and they run a test on her urine. She's pregnant and she's only 15 years old. She says she could never have an abortion because it's against God's will. She says her parents won't understand — they'll say she's sinned.

A stab wound victim, Pete, comes in screaming and Victor and Archie tend to him. He doesn't want the cops to be called and Victor tells him he'll take care of it.

Abby talks to Dr. Coburn. She's still not sure whether she wants the baby or not. Coburn tells her to come by her private practice any time. She says no matter what Abby decides, it will be the right thing.

Amanda's parents come to the hospital and she tells them she's pregnant. Mr. Ramsey asks Neela to leave. He later tells Neela that they won't need any other assistance. Neela tries to give her an option for an abortion but he won't hear about it because he's Catholic.

Ray tries to convince Kerry to let him leave for Los Angeles for a month with his band. She still says no and tells him he's too valuable to lose. He says that if he can't do it, he'll consider quitting. So she accepts his resignation without him offering it. He's completely caught off guard.

Neela discharges Amanda but she's still unsure about the baby. The girl says she was at a party and she passed out. When she woke up, her pants were down and there was blood everywhere — she was raped. Neela tries to get her parents to change their minds but Luka asks her to stop. Neela than asks Luka's permission to discuss the case with another attending physician — one who isn't Catholic. Luka tells her that he's a doctor before anything else and never lets his personal views interfere with his duties. He forces Neela to move on.

Luka decides to talk to Amanda himself. He wants to know if she wants the baby. She doesn't. He gives her a procedure to induce a miscarriage. He tells her it's a medical way to give God a chance to reconsider.

Brett, one of Ray's band members, meets Ray and tells him that because he's been so distracted with being a doctor, they've decided to kick him out of the band.

Luka finds Abby alone in the park. He tells her that he doesn't want everything they have built to come down to this one decision. He assumes she's had an abortion, but she's decided against it. She wants to keep it and Luka is ecstatic.
