Kerry is forced to run the ER because the new doctor — Victor Clemente (John Leguizamo) — hasn't shown up.

Greg checks on a patient who tells him he did cocaine and Viagra. Greg doesn't know how to treat him and unfortunately for Greg, the man is Victor Clemente, the new attendant. This was a test for Greg — and he failed. Victor immediately berates the staff for not being efficient enough.

Luka checks on the coma patient, Blaire, who he miraculously woke up. She's trying to piece her life back together and wants some marijuana to take the edge off. She says it's all a little too stressful. Especially the accident, which she can't seem to grasp.

Luka asks her regular doctor if he knows the nature of the accident. He tells Luka that the accident was violent — that they were carjacked and her mother was raped. Luka wants to tell Blaire, but the doctor advises against it for fear of causing undue stress on her system.

Abby gets called up to Oncology where Stephanie, her double mastectomy patient, wants to leave because they found a small node in her breast. She's scared and Abby wants to help her. Stephanie wants to marry and have kids but thinks no one will want to be with her if she has chemo for 10 years. Abby informs her that her aunt and grandmother both died of breast cancer and she's never even had a mammogram herself, so she understands.

An emergency patient is brought in, a stab victim. Victor tests Neela mid-surgery like he did with Greg, but she impresses him. Greg, on the other hand, bumps heads with Victor and excuses himself from the room.

Outside the hospital, Greg finds Charlie waiting for him. Charlie wants to have dinner with him but Greg is still standoffish and says he'd like to be left alone — permanently.

The staff is shorthanded when a drug addict is brought in. Neela and Ray decide to help the patient without calling in Victor because he's getting on all their nerves. Victor walks in and helps the patient, pointing out that Ray and Neela were misdiagnosing him. He says that even though he's a pain in the ass, it should never get in the way of patient care.

Neela confronts Victor but he tells her that patients always come first and there's always something more to learn.

Luka brings Blaire to the roof of the hospital to see Lake Michigan. She asks him if he thinks God had something to do with her waking up. He says he doesn't know one way or another. She says she keeps having flashes about the accident that don't add up. She suddenly goes into shock and Luka brings her down to the ER. Luka gets her meds, the experimental mixture that took her out of her coma initially. Blaire goes into a seizure but they finally get her sedated. Luka and Abby watch over her as she may have slipped back into a coma.
