When Hood sees a late night news story about a boy who was "cured" by drinking spring water, he gets so incensed, he cajoles Rachel into joining him on an unofficial case. They head to Montana to investigate -- Hood is passionate in his belief that miracles do nothing but take advantage of people's hope in times of crises and he wants to figure out what, if anything, cured the boy, to dissuade people from stopping their own cancer treatment and taking "the cure". Turns out the boy did have cancer and no longer does, so something cured him, but conventional tests don't reveal anything. Despite the lack of clues, Hood realizes there must be someone behind the mystery spring when two people are murdered. Turns out, he and Rachel investigations lead them to uncover and stop a couple of homegrown terrorists building a dirty bomb.
