Dave is uncomfortable being considered the hero of the nightclub fire, especially when Mike thanks him for saving his life. Edie tells Dave that the police suspect Porter Scavo because of his fight with the bar owner, Warren Schilling. "Trust me, I'm always a good judge of character," Edie tells Dave, saying she always knew Porter was "trouble."

Lynette lies to the police that she didn't hear Porter threaten Warren and she and Tom face the possibility that Porter might be responsible for this fire, just as he and his brother were for burning down Rick's restaurant five years ago.

The doctor finds a bone fragment in Carlos' brain after his concussion, and says that if it's removed, Carlos might be able to see again. Instead of being overjoyed, Gabrielle worries what he'll think when he sees her looking like a mother of two instead of the supermodel he remembers. She tries to madly get back into shape, but then the surgery is moved up.

Gabrielle finally confesses her fears that Carlos won't find her as beautiful as before and he tells her when he first knew he wanted to marry her. It was when she ate ribs and was laughing happily, not caring that she'd made a huge mess. "It had nothing to do with your looks," he assures her. "Do you know when I decided I want to be with you forever? About two seconds ago," she says. "Up until then, it was pretty touch and go."

Orson's broken nose means he now snores to wake the dead, so Bree starts sleeping on the couch. He is adamant that he won't have "unnecessary surgery." "If we don't share a bed, it will affect the intimacy of our marriage," she says. "So will my death," he insists.

He begs his way back into bed and dopes her chamomile tea but doesn't give it to her when she tells him that she's already taken a pill. She oversleeps when she's due at a cooking demonstration, but makes the mistake of drinking the drugged tea in the morning, so she's groggy and confused and makes a complete mess of the demonstration. Orson meekly accompanies her to the doctor's office to schedule the surgery.

Katherine doesn't want Mike to tell Susan about their relationship. He lets slip that he's been dating "a friend" of hers and so Susan goes to tell Katherine how upset she is, and that she suspects another friend, Lisa. She realizes her mistake when she finds Katherine cooking the same kind of cookies as Mike had in his hospital room. Susan confronts Bree for not telling her. "You're mad at yourself for letting your marriage fall apart," Bree says when Susan says she expects her to be honest. "You need to tell him how you feel or move on," she urges her.

The next day, Susan calls Katherine to tell her, "I've been thinking about it and I'm okay with you dating Mike. Just treat him well, okay. He's a really good guy." Katherine is reassured but Susan begs off seeing her that day, claiming she has a lot of things to do.

Lynette gives Anne Schilling money to get out of town and drives her to the bus station. When she says she'll help provide for the baby, Anne admits, "There's no baby. Never was."

Lynette asks Porter to tell her the truth about the fire, saying she and Tom will stand behind him even if he did set it. "Mom, I don't know who set the fire, but it wasn't me." "Of course, you didn't," she says and hugs him hard. They promise to tell each other the truth but when he asks if she knows where Anne is, she lies and says, "No, sweetie, I don't."

They don't know that "hero" Dave has gone to the police to tell them he saw Porter near the storage room on the night of the nightclub fire.
