The team finds murdered Latin gang member Benny Madera hanging in a warehouse with the lower half of his body cut off. When Flack sees that Lovato had tried calling Benny's cell phone, he confronts her and she explains that Benny had helped her infiltrate the Trinitario gang in her previous undercover drug case. She was trying to warn Benny after another gang member named Carmen discovered she was a cop earlier that day. They suspect someone in the gang had killed Benny for bringing Lovato into the Trinitario crew. Hawkes analyzes the green paint traces found on Benny's body to discover they came from a specific GM vehicle whose jumper cables were used to electrocute him. Special Agent Roger Hicks employs his C.I. and former Trinitario gang member, Raymond Cruz, for help with the case and Raymond reveals that another gangbanger named Hector Mendez owned a green Buick. After Lindsay's research rules Hector out as a suspect, Danny lasers off layers of the unknown plastic heap found in the trunk of the recovered Buick that had been set on fire and uncovers DNA matching Raymond. Raymond confesses to the crime and explains it was for revenge as he believed Benny had gotten him arrested and thus forced to be a C.I. They also find evidence that Hicks had met with Raymond inside the Buick and kept quiet as he wanted his C.I. to remain a witness in the case against the Trinitarios. Flack apologizes for Lovato for thinking she had crossed the line with Benny while she was undercover.
