Synopsis

The team uncovers the body of a young woman dressed in a ball gown in the pond by the Belvedere Castle. Sid uses her fingerprint to identify her as college student Ashley Braden. Jo finds a spot of blood on her dress which matches it to Joseph Skiver. They question Skiver to learn that Ashley had dated him previously, but cut ties with him a few days ago to be with her rich boyfriend. Skiver asserts that the blood found on her dress was from a previous injury and confirms she was heading to an extravagant event thrown by her millionaire boyfriend, Matthew DiBello. Danny finds pieces of a torn check near the castle and discovers that it was large check from her boyfriend's company. DiBello claims that he loved Ashley in spite of her not so savory past and knew nothing of the check. He also admits that they got into an argument right before her murder, hence the scratch on her body. On the way back to bringing DiBello into the station for further questioning an angry Skiver appears and shoots Dibello. As he recovers from the shooting, the team traces Ashley's cell phone to DiBello's office and discovers it had been used by his mother, Krista, to text him, posing as Ashley, so he wouldn't worry about his girlfriend's whereabouts. She texted, as Ashley, that she was out of town for a few days. It turns out that Krista bribed Ashley with the check to end her relationship with DiBello as she didn't believe she was good enough for her son. After Ashley ripped up the check in anger, Krista killed her with a rock and dumped her body in the pond.
