Lindsay suits up at her new position in the federal task force and remains a little wary - they're slick and advanced and it just doesn't feel like home. Nonetheless, she joins Lang, the head of the task force, on a major raid meant to take down the local head of the drug trade, Mendoza. Except when they bust into the compound, no one's there - and that includes their informant Kylie. Did she tip off Mendoza? Either way, every lead hits a dead end and Lindsay comes to Lang with a proposition to rope Intelligence into the case to help find Mendoza.

Intelligence tracks down one of Mendoza's key lieutenants (and locates a hidden cash stash of over a million dollars), then tosses him in the interview room - but Lang stops Voight short of gleaning any information from the suspect. Against Voight and Lindsay's pleas, Lang makes a deal with the suspect to expedite the process and ends up with the location of a planned meeting... a location where all they find are the dead bodies of Mendoza's other two lieutenants. Voight reiterates that a more thorough interrogation could have landed better intel. Regardless, it looks like Mendoza wants to close out the entire operation - which Lindsay points out means Kylie could suffer grave consequences if Mendoza discovers she sold him out.

Meanwhile, Platt assigns a still-recovering Burgess to her desk and heads out on patrol as part of a rekindling of her roots. Platt joins Roman on the beat and in between offering sound advice about moving on from the incident that led to Burgess being shot, she uses some old-school tactics to land intel from a CI who dates back to her last patrol days. The lead pays off with a solid link they pass on to Intelligence and the task force - a cartel man named Urbina.

Intelligence leans on Urbina at his favorite hangout, the infamous jazz club The Green Mill. Turns out Urbina tossed a tracker in all the remaining cash. He gives up the tracker, and they locate Mendoza at the helm of a scrap metal truck - which triggers a chase. The two teams work together to derail his rig into a lot, secure the rest of the cash and place Mendoza in custody. Kylie emerges, rattled and duct-taped at the mouth, but otherwise unharmed. That is, until Lindsay discovers that federal bureaucracy may not land Kylie any money for her instrumental CI efforts.

Back at District 21, Roman apologizes to Burgess for failing to back her up during the shooting and wishes her luck at her new gig in Intelligence. This gets Burgess thinking and she heads to Voight's office... where she respectfully declines his offer to join the squad. She expresses that her heart's in patrolling right now. Although surprised, Voight supports her decision.

Later, Lindsay visits Halstead at his apartment and confesses that the task force isn't really her scene. Halstead thinks she wants to talk more about her job, until Lindsay reminds him that they don't work together anymore. In other words, the rules of office dating no longer apply. Seconds later, Lindsay and Halstead find their lips locked and their clothes falling to the floor, unable to control their passion...
