Right after Patrick's elimination, Dolvett meets with the Red Team to talk about what just happened. Spirits are low, but Dolvett helps them find a new resolve. The next morning, Bob gathers the Black Team together to meet a special guest... Hannah Curlee from Season 11! Hannah relates what her life was like before coming to the ranch; now she's happy for the first time in her life. Today, she's going to take the Black Team into the kitchen to talk nutrition.

Dolvett takes the Red Team on a hike, promising a surprise. Suddenly, former player Adam Hurtado from Season 10 comes running up. He reminds them that he was 402 pounds when he got to the ranch, and he left at 220 - not even a year ago! Adam lost his mom to diabetes when she was 51, and he wants that loss to inspire the Red Team to take charge and choose a different fate. Adam and Dolvett set up a sand bag workout (50 pounds for five miles) that will challenge the Reds to work as a team. Ramon carries the sandbags by himself the whole way, and both Adam and Dolvett realize that he's in his zone. Afterwards, Dolvett pulls Courtney aside to talk about her lack of confidence. When she starts to love her actions, she'll start loving herself. It's Dolvett's job to remind her that she's so much better than she thinks she is.

Back in the kitchen, Hannah's getting ready to make a dish she makes at home all the time, turkey-stuffed peppers. Bob decides the Black Team is going to focus on nutrition all this week to enhance their workouts. Later, Anna assembles the Blue Team on the beach to meet their special guest - Marci from Season 11! She remembers that Week 4 was such a struggle, and advises them to look for their own personal powerful why - why are they are on the ranch? Bonnie's having a hard time keeping up the pace; Anna believes she may have more of a mental block than a physical one. Hannah proceeds to the gym with the Black Team to help Bob with the workout. She's amazed to see the giant poster of herself in the gym, meant to inspire this season's contestants.

Bob stops his team in the middle of their workout for a lecture on food and nutrition. It's time to take the mystery out of food and stop living in secrets. Joe realizes that Bob is talking about him. He travels all over Tennessee for work, and there's not a fast food joint he hasn't hit. He knows his wife has unconditional love for him, and he deserves this fight to regain his health so he can continue his great life with his family. During the Blue Team's workout, Anna's determined to pick up her team's cardio. She pushes Bonnie hard, upping her rate on the treadmill and encouraging her to overcome her fear of going fast. Afterwards, Bonnie feels like a new woman and says she owes it to Anna. Later in the day, Joe, Antone and Ramon discuss missing their families. This is the hardest part of being on the ranch...

After discovering that Courtney loves sports, Dolvett takes her out to the basketball court, where she admits she gave up in high school. Dolvett decides it's his job to remind Courtney not to give up and to recall what she loves about sports. Courtney has skills - and playing ball puts a big smile on her face! Courtney begins to realize that she has a block in her head, telling her she can't do things, and just like on the basketball court, she's going to have to learn to get around it. Later, Alison meets the contestants in a field at a makeshift starting line. On the ranch, the only job the contestants have is to focus on their health. But someday, they'll have to go back to the real world and weather various conditions. Just like today's challenge...

Today's challenge is a line relay. The person at the back of the line has to pass a box to the person in front of them, and then race to the front of the line and so on, until they make it the finish line. The trick is that they'll be running through wind, snow and rain. The incentive is in the box - letters from home! The winning team gets to read theirs. Jennifer hasn't been medically cleared for the challenge, so she'll sit this one out. The Red Team's off to an early lead with the Black Team right behind them. With only three people on their team, the Blue Team knows they're going to be working a little bit harder than anyone else. The Red Team is the first one to get to the snow, which is no problem for Ramon, since he's from Colorado. Before long the Black and Red Teams are neck and neck.

While Bonnie has a hard time dealing with the snow, the Black and Red Teams are hitting the wind. The Black Team makes it across the finish line first, with the Red Team right behind them. But no letters from home will be opened until the Blue Team makes it across the finish line. Becky comments on the new Bonnie - she just won't quit! Afterwards, Alison announces that since everyone finished the challenge, they'll all read their letters from home. As a special surprise, the winning Black Team will receive the bonus of video chats with their families.

The Black Team is delighted to video conference with their families. There are lots of tears and lots of motivation - but surprisingly, Antone stays dry, promising his family he's working hard to change. It's only after he hangs up that he breaks down. In the meantime, Anna takes her team to the tennis court - which is home for her - for their Last-Chance Workout. They're going to do a cardio tennis workout. Anna doesn't care where the ball goes, she just wants her team to keep their feet moving. Bob takes the Black Team to the pool for their Last-Chance Workout. It turns out that Joe fears the water, having almost drowned twice. Bob talks him through the fear and gets him swimming. Luckily, Jennifer's finally able to work out as if she didn't have an injury at all. By the end of their Last-Chance Workout, most of the Black Team members are crying.

Dolvett doesn't take his team anywhere special, but right back to the gym for their Last-Chance Workout. He focuses on Courtney, making sure she's not going to quit. He believes in her and is trying to help her believe in herself. Ramon realizes that, in the past, he let go of being a leader and let go of being an athlete. He's going to get himself back - there's a new and improved Ramon in town! Finally, it's time for the weigh-in. Mike's the first to weigh in, and he's feeling confident - but he only loses five pounds, at .69% and 41 pounds total over four weeks. Becky's been doing great, but she's stalled at two pounds and speechless. Bonnie's the biggest loser on her team with seven pounds at .96%. The Blue Team's total is 14 pounds at 1.93%.

Now the Black Team will have to lose more than 31 pounds to beat the Blue Team. Joe's up first, and he's got a solid six-pound loss at .37%. Bob reassures a disappointed Joe that he's made great mental strides this week. Sunny loses four; Antone takes off eight; and John subtracts nine - for a total of 79 pounds since he started on the show! Jennifer's the last Black Team member to weigh in, and she's got to lose five pounds to stay ahead of the Blues. And she hits a seven! Bob commends Jennifer on not letting her injury stop her - this is how she's going to change the rest of her life. The Black Team's total is 34 for a total of 2.12% weight loss. Now the Red Team will have to lose more than 22 pounds total. Courtney weighs in first, and she's feeling confident... until she learns she only lost three pounds. Her team assures her that she hasn't let them down, and Dolvett reminds her that confidence isn't something you get overnight.

Jessica's up next, and she sheds two pounds. Dolvett's starting to get concerned. Now Vinny and Ramon will have to lose 17 pounds combined. Vinny's eight-pound loss is decent, and Ramon takes it home with an 11-pound loss. His team has earned the right to stay on the ranch one more week! Dolvett remarks that this week, Ramon stepped up and showed he can be a leader - and he's lost 44 pounds since he started the show. The Red Team's total is 24 pounds at 2.05%. Becky and Bonnie are in tears at the prospect of having to decide which of the Blue Team's members to eliminate. Since Bonnie lost the most weight, she's safe. But since she can't vote for herself, the only vote that counts is hers.

The Blue Team heads straight to the elimination chamber, and Alison invites Mike and Becky to speak up in their own defense. Of course, neither Becky nor Mike wants to go home. Bonnie makes her decision based on who she thinks has a better chance of making it at home, and her choice is Coach Mike. Mike credits Anna with his success thus far, along with pre-established goals. And he's got a message for the American public... age ain't nothin' but a number!
