Married couple Brad & Victoria gambled on an earlier flight through Amsterdam, but missed their connection and arrived hours after the other teams in Romania. Meanwhile, father and son Mel & Mike won the leg while siblings and lawyers Tammy & Victor's relationship issues came to the surface when their standing in the race suffered.

AN EARLY LEAD

Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 10:13am, sibling lawyers Tammy & Victor ripped open their clue instructing them to travel by train to Munich, and then fly over 700 miles to Bucharest, Romania. When they landed, they had to take a taxi to the gymnastic hall where famed Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci trained.

Before hopping on the train, the siblings ducked into a travel agency where they discovered a flight leaving at 3:30pm that was completely booked. However, they got tickets on the next best option, a Tarom flight departing at 4:45pm.

Arriving at the Munich Airport, Tammy & Victor ran up to the Lufthansa counter in hopes of securing tickets on the sold out 3:30pm flight. The lawyers grinned widely when the ticket agents told them two seats were now available. As Tammy & Victor boarded their plane, they couldn't believe their good fortune in keeping a lead on the other teams.

On the next train to the Munich Airport, married couple Brad & Victoria and dating couple Amanda & Kris each separately borrowed a cell phone from a fellow passenger and discovered the 4:45pm Tarom flight. Both teams were dissuaded from attempting to purchase the tickets at the airport because there would not be enough time, only 30 minutes. Amanda & Kris didn't listen to the advice, saying, "We're really fast!" Meanwhile, Brad & Victoria accepted the news and planned to book a later flight departing at 9:30pm, but wanted to keep options open when they arrived at the airport.

FALLING DOWN

After a smooth start, sibling lawyers Tammy & Victor hit some turbulence when their pilot announced that their aircraft had technical problems and would be turning around. The siblings knew they still had a shot at getting on the 4:45pm Tarom flight if their plane landed back in Munich quickly.

Stepping off of the train at the Munich Airport, dating couple Amanda & Chris ran to the Tarom counter with father and son Mel & Mike and mother and son Margie & Luke. All three teams got seats on the 4:45pm flight and boarding the plane. At the same time, Tammy & Victor landed in Munich once again hoping to catch the Tarom flight with the other teams. However, the siblings had to wait on the tarmac in the shuttle transporting them back to the terminal, so the Tarom flight took off without them. This meant that Tammy & Victor would have to take the 9:30pm Lufthansa flight with the other teams.

TAKING CHANCES

Meanwhile, married couple Brad & Victoria refused to settle with the 9:30 Lufthansa flight that they assumed the remaining teams would be taking. They walked up to a counter where a ticket agent told them there was a KLM flight leaving at 7:30pm that would land earlier than the Lufthansa flight. They decided to take this KLM flight even though their plane to Amsterdam was delayed, leaving only 30 minutes for them to make their connection. Victoria said, "It'll be tight, but I'm not freaking out over it." Brad added, "I do not want to spend the night in Amsterdam."

Landing in Amsterdam, married couple Brad & Victoria ran to the connecting counter hoping to still make their flight to Bucharest. However, when they got there, the married couple received the devastating news that their connecting flight to Bucharest had already left. To compound the problem, the next available flight would not depart until 9:15am the next morning. A distressed Victoria said, "I feel sick to my stomach."

GOING FOR GOLD

Landing in Bucharest, dating couple Amanda & Kris took the lead out of the airport and arrived at gymnasium in first place, just ahead of mother and son Margie & Luke and father and son Mel & Mike, to find a Roadblock. In it, one team member had to learn and execute moves for three gymnastic disciplines: balance beam, parallel bars, and floor exercises. Once they performed all the moves correctly and in order, the trainer would hand them their next clue.

After changing into leotards, Amanda, Margie, and Mike all took to the gymnasium to begin their routines. The petite Amanda hopped onto the balance beam and gracefully walked across it forward and backward allowing her to move onto the parallel bars as boyfriend Kris cheered, "You're like a pro!"

As Amanda cruised through the parallel bars and headed to the floor exercise, the 51 year-old Margie struggled as son Luke offered his moral support. After falling off of the beam, Margie got back on it, made it across successfully, and let out a cheer. However, when faced with the parallel bars, Margie again had difficulties, but inched her way across before breezing through the floor routine.

Third place Mike joked, "I want my frickin' medal" after he finished his routine to earn his clue. He and his dad, Mel, joined Amanda & Kris and Margie & Luke at the train station where they waited for the 6:30am train to Brasov, a city located in the region of Transylvania. Once there, they would race to the Biserica Neagra, also known as "the Black Church" to find their next clue.

SISTER STRIKES OUT

When the second plane landed in Bucharest, siblings and lawyers Tammy & Victor took the lead out the airport, but quickly fell behind the other four teams when they couldn't find the entrance to the gymnasium. Once they finally reached the cluebox, now in eighth place, Tammy chose to perform the feats of balance and strength, but already her mind was elsewhere. She commented, "From the moment I ran into that Roadblock and I saw the other teams were ahead of us, I just got stressed and I was already thinking about how we were going to get out of here as opposed to thinking about what I had to do."

As the other four teams left for the train station one after another, Tammy's performance worsened as her brother's advice to her increased. When Tammy couldn't do a proper cartwheel or tumble on her head, a frustrated Victor said, "She's not thinking right now." After Tammy finally earned her clue, she apologized for her performance to which Victor replied, "I think your brain just froze." At the train station, an emotional Tammy vented about how she thinks her brother sees her. In tears, she said, "He thinks I'm weak. He thinks I get paralyzed and can't do things and he thinks that he's accommodating for me a lot. I'm not really sure how to deal with it."

BFF'S

On the train from Bucharest to Brasov, mother and son Margie & Luke continued to strengthen their bond with former NFL cheerleaders Jaime & Cara. On her new friend, Cara remarked, "People sometimes might be intimidated by Luke's deafness. He's really appreciated the effort to communicate with him. He's great."

As the teams neared Brasov, married couple Brad & Victoria finally departed from Amsterdam, but remained optimistic. Victoria said, "I kind of have an excited feeling even though we're the last team. If there's even one team that is as screwed up as our situation then I'm going to be really happy."

WHEN IN ROMANIA...

Arriving at the Biserica Neagra in Brasov, teams, led by dating couple Amanda & Kris, encountered a Detour having to choose between Gypsy Moves and Vampire Remains. In Gypsy Moves, teams had to travel to a gypsy settlement where they needed to load all of a family's belongings onto a horse-drawn cart. Then, they had to navigate the cart to the family's new encampment where they had to unload the belongings. In Vampire Remains, teams had to travel to nearby woods, drag a coffin down a hill to a clearing, unlock and untangle a series of chains surrounding the coffin, and open it to reveal a set of antique picture frames. Then, in the spirit of Vlad the Impaler, who inspired Bram Stoker's famous vampire Dracula, teams had to impale the picture frames on a wooden stake searching for a hidden flag to exchange for their next clue.

Father and son Mel & Mike and dating couple Amanda & Kris pulled up to the gypsy settlement to witness a startling array of sights and sounds, from an according player to brightly dressed dancers and revelers. Amid the chaos, the teams began moving the gypsy's belongings, including a car body, huge tires, and barrels onto the cart. While the younger and stronger Amanda & Kris had a distinct advantage in lifting the heavy items, father and son Mel & Mike remained right on their heels. The difference between the two teams came after unloading the items at the new gypsy settlement. Amanda & Kris still maintained a lead over Mel & Mike, but the couple couldn't find their fanny pack containing their passports and money. Kris began to panic as he frantically looked around for it as Mel & Mike got into their taxi now headed for the Pit Stop at Villa Panoramic.

Stepping onto the mat in first place, father and son Mel & Mike had even more to celebrate when Phil rewarded the pair with a trip for two from Travelocity to Costa Rica. On his son, Mel remarked, "To say I'm proud of Mike right now is the understatement of the century."

BROTHER KNOWS BEST

Meanwhile, lawyers and siblings Tammy & Victor arrived at the woods ahead of plenty of teams, but they failed to spot the correct yellow and red arrows leading them to the coffins. Instead, Victor saw white and red markers painted on trees and insisted to his disbelieving sister that they marked the path. The pair began climbing straight up the mountain as an increasingly frustrated Tammy continued to voice her concern about the color of the markings and the path her brother was leading them on. Victor dismissed his sister's concerns saying, "Going back right now would be a big mistake."

As Victor led Tammy to the Romanian mountaintop, down below flight attendants Christie & Jodi, mother and son Margie & Luke, and former NFL cheerleaders Jaime & Cara all hauled the heavy coffins to impaling stakes and then began using keys to unlock the padlocks and chains surrounding the coffin. The three teams all lifted the lids off of their coffins to reveal the myriad wooden picture frames inside. As they began impaling the frames on the wooden stake, the teams got a surprise when blood splattered from inside. Mother and son Margie & Luke found their flag first en route to a fourth place finish overall, while flight attendants Christie & Jodi lost a footrace to stuntmen and brothers Mark & Michael to finish in sixth place.

SISTER SPEAKS UP

After former NFL cheerleaders Jaime & Cara finished in seventh place, the wandering Tammy & Victor remained ahead of only married couple Brad & Victoria, who now sat on a train heading to Brasov. Tammy continued to plead to Victor to turn around, saying, "It's just frustrating that we have to follow your gut and not mine." Victor wouldn't relent as they continued to ascend the mountain. Finally, after hours of walking, Victor crouched on the ground in frustration. Tammy told Victor to be a leader pleading, "Victor, please, you've taken the role of decision maker. You wanna make decisions. Please make one.", to which he replied, "You can help make the decision, I mean if you want to go back let's go back" Tammy scoffed at the irony saying, "I can help make the decision now that we've walked up the whole mountain?!", and with that she told her brother they were turning around.

At the bottom of the mountain, a defeated Victor noticed the correct yellow and red arrows and walked with his sister to drag their coffin to the impaling stake. Victor's bad afternoon got worse when he realized his carelessness with moving the coffin caused one of the keys needed to open the locks to fall off somewhere. As Tammy searched the grass, Victor lamented, "Maybe it just broke off, and now we have the impossible task of finding a stupid key." Hidden among the leaves on the hillside, Tammy & Victor searched for the missing key until Victor spotted it allowing them to open their coffin and find the flag.

A BAD DAY

Stepping onto the mat in eighth place, Victor broke down in tears as Tammy stood quietly looking on. Later, Victor commented, "The stressful environment has made it clear the older brother little sister dynamics don't work well on a race and I think it's a real chance for us to improve on how we relate to each other." Tammy added, "There are things that I think I need to do to help our lifelong relationship. I need to hurt his feelings a little bit when I really think that I'm right and he's wrong."

After the sun set over Romania, married couple Brad & Victoria jumped onto the mat where Phil eliminated them from the race. Brad remarked, "This great race, it's going to be with us forever. I can't think of a better person to share this experience with than Victoria." Victoria added, "We're in a really good place in our lives to begin with, but this wonderful adventure around the world is going to change the way we view our lives together."
