Excited for his favorite holiday - Halloween - Will knocks on Fiona's door dressed like a gorilla cop, which scares the crap out of Marcus. It turns out Marcus believes he's cursed when it comes to Halloween, having experienced tremendous emotional scarring in past years. Will's not buying it, and furthermore, the two pathetic pieces of corn decorating Fiona and Marcus' side of the porch ain't cuttin' it. He is taking Fiona to the Halloween store right now to make things right! Fiona declines the invitation, explaining Halloween is a made-up American holiday meant to encourage obesity and diabetes. She doesn't give out treats, and she hasn't eaten sugar in 12 years. Will knows sugar isn't the only thing Fiona hasn't had in 12 years, so he prevails, looping her into preparations for his yearly party, Will-o-ween. Fiona suspects Will is masking his despair over the breakup with Sam, but he insists he's using the three Bs - booze, bros and babes - to get back to classic Will, aka Will 1.0. True to form, he invites the hot cashier at the Halloween store to his party.

Will drops off Andy's Tonto costume - they always attend Will-o-ween dressed as a famous duo. Sadly, this year, Andy's been prevailed upon by Laurie to be part of their family costume: two pods and some peas. Will's convinced Andy looks like a giant green penis, so Andy promises to wear the Tonto costume under his pea pod, and after he's done trick-or-treating with the kids, he'll be Tonto to Will's Lone Ranger.

Finally the big night has arrived, and Will is horrified to discover Fiona is handing out "sweets for the soul," rocks painted with affirmations, that are making trick-or-treaters cry. Worse yet, neither Marcus nor Fiona is wearing a costume. Fiona claims she's dressed as a flower child, but she looks pretty much the same as usual. Inside Will's apartment, the party is going strong, when hot cashier Rachel arrives dressed as a sexy doctor, prompting melancholy memories of Dr. Sam. Meanwhile, handsome British architect Sean, dressed as Sherlock Holmes, finds Fiona sulking on the porch. Within moments they're flirting and singing native shanties. Sean asks Fiona for a rock, which advises him to be open to unexpected love and kindness.

Fiona decides to go to the party after all, and Will finds her literally hugging the wall and giggling nervously in Sean's direction. When she turns to leave, Will offers an affirmation of his own - she is worthy! Inspired by one of the rocks, Marcuse decides it's time to battle his demons and tentatively enters the party too. Freaked out by what seem to be actual demons, he runs for the photo booth and is quickly trapped inside. Meanwhile, Laurie has discovered Andy is wearing the Tonto costume under his pea pod and decided it's time to go home. Disappointed, Will de-Tontos his adult best friend.

On a trying-new-things kick, Fiona accepts Sean's offer of a piece of candy, then collapses into a full-out sugar binge. Sam calls Will to say hello, and when she realizes he's hosting a Halloween party, hangs up in a snit. After Will rescues him from the photo booth, Marcus laments that he can't bounce back like Will. Will may have gotten his heart broken, but then he threw himself a great party and now he's fine. Will sighs. Actually, Will-o-ween sucks. It's time to break Marcus' Halloween curse. After Marcus dons the Tonto costume, the best friends do it all - steal tons of candy, rescue Andy and Laurie from eggers with silly string - they even toilet paper the tree house. Marcus figures his curse is broken, musing that he misses Dr. Sam too. Until Will meets another Sam, Marcus is available to hang. After a sweet goodnight kiss from Sean, a smitten Fiona finds Marcus passed out on a pile of candy wrappers. She doesn't mind; sometimes it's good to step outside one's comfort zone and try new things.
