'Til Death Episode 1.08 Death Sex

Eddie enters his classroom and tells his class he's going to eat his breakfast before he teaches. He drops some bacon on the ground and when he bends down to get it, he pulls something in his back.

Eddie gets an MRI at the hospital. The MRI technician asks where Eddie has pain, and he answers on his right side. Eddie gets suspicious about the technician's questioning. Eddie begs to know what's wrong, but the technician refuses to answer.

Eddie tells Joy that he's dying. Joy tells Eddie to relax. Eddie begins to worry about his back. He follows Joy outside, and the Woodcocks jog up. Jeff asks how Eddie is, and Eddie continues saying he's near death. Steph begins to cry, Eddie's illness reminds her of her dead cat, Mr. Pajamas.

Joy sits in bed, using her laptop. Eddie comes out and discovers she was searching for "back + cancer." Eddie starts to panic more about his back pain. Joy admits that she is a little nervous about Eddie dying.

Joy stares at Eddie the next morning as he sleeps. Eddie wakes up and Joy wants to be intimate again. When Joy heads to the bathroom, the phone rings. Eddie's doctor calls and tells him he only has an inflamed disc. Joy comes out of the bathroom and offers to "take the party to the shower." Eddie starts to tell her about the doctor, but realizes what he's getting out of Joy because she thinks he's really sick.

Jeff and Steph bring dinner plate to the Starks'. Jeff doesn't want Steph talking about Mr. Pajamas because Eddie is a human, not a cat. When Steph sees Eddie in his pajamas, she runs off. Eddie invites Jeff in.

Jeff says it's great that Eddie is still positive even though he's sick. But Eddie comes clean with Jeff and says he doesn't have a disease. Eddie says he hasn't told Joy yet because of the perks. Jeff is mad because Eddie's "illness" was getting Eddie perks, but because it reminded Steph of Mr. Pajamas, Steph has taken away their marriage perks.

When Eddie gets home, Joy wants to talk and look over a photo album. Eddie and Joy hold hands, something they haven't done in quite some time.

At school, Eddie tells Jeff that they connected on a different level, and all they did is talk. Jeff is still angry that Eddie is lying and enjoying life. Jeff wants to know how long Eddie can keep lying.

Eddie and Joy drink sangria on their porch, relaxing and reliving the past. Joy tells Eddie they should call their daughter and let them know what's going on with Eddie's health, but Eddie doesn't want to because he'd have to tell the truth. Eddie finally tells Joy that the doctor called and that he's going to be fine. Eddie admits that he loves what they've become over the last few days. Joy is furious because Eddie lied to her, and Eddie defends that everything is okay and there's no reason to be upset. Eddie apologizes profusely.

Steph walks into the Starks' kitchen, glares at Eddie, then takes her dinner plate back.
