'Constantine' Is Officially Dead, Can't Find a New Home

"" is officially dead, executive producer Daniel Cerone has confirmed. Following a search for a new home, Cerone gave fans an update on the show's status by posting a lengthy message on TwitLonger.

"A sad day for #Constantine. More in link below. #Hellblazers #SaveConstantine," he wrote on Twitter on Sunday, June 7 along with a link to the longer statement. He began his lengthy message, "I promised I'd share news when I had it -- sadly, that news is not good."

More TV cancellations are revealed. NBC decides to scrap DC Comics adaptation "" after one season only due to declining ratings, while FOX announces that crime series "" will not return for the fourth cycle.

However, "Constantine" is not completely off the table as Warner Bros. is currently shopping it around to get picked up by another network. Developed by David S. Goyer and Daniel Cerone, the show follows a demon hunter played by Matt Ryan.

NBC's freshman "" will end its first season after 13 episodes. Deadline reports that the cast and crew were informed on Friday, November 21 that the production would be halted after its initial 13-episode order.

Though so, it's noted that the show based on DC Comics character remains in contention for a second-season renewal. The supernatural series will continue airing Fridays at 10 P.M. for the remainder of the season. NBC will likely replace it with "" or one of its freshman dramas.

NBC's "" has found its Det. Jim Corrigan. Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan, who recently starred in "" as a head riot guard, lands the recurring role on the upcoming supernatural drama series.

Corrigan is a New Orleans homicide detective "who doesn't let ... red tape stop him from putting away the bad guys, even if the bad guys turn out to be inhuman," so Entertainment Weekly describes the character. He is a potential ally to Matt Ryan's Constantine. In the comic books, Corrigan eventually becomes the avenging spirit The Spectre.


Angelica Celaya Joins NBC's 'Constantine' as Zed the Psychic

NBC's "" has found its Zed in telenovela star Angelica Celaya. During the show's panel at Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday, July 13, executive producer Daniel Cerone revealed details about the new DC Comics character.

Hailing from "Hellblazer" comic book, Zed is a psychic who already has powers when she encounters Constantine. "She's someone who can go toe to toe with John [Constantine], and that's ultimately something we felt like we needed," Cerone said. "We wanted a more dynamic relationship, as opposed to someone who is a teacher/mentor and a student. It just didn't feel as fertile and rich of an area as just a strong a man and a strong woman who are both very different."

Liv is the daughter of one of Constantine's oldest friends whom he saves from demons and later takes under his wing. The role will not be recast, but replaced by Zed, a psychic who teams up with Constantine to battle various evil forces.

A new promo for "" includes an Easter egg for DC Comics fans. The preview video released in international market offers a glimpse of Doctor Fate's helmet, confirming previous report that the Helmet of Nabu would appear in the show's pilot.

It's unclear, though, if Doctor Fate will make appearance on the new NBC series. The character was previously portrayed by Brent Stait in two-part episode of "" called "Absolute Justice". Doctor Fate has also been featured on some animated TV series, including "Superman: The Animated Series ", "Justice League Unlimited" and "".
