'The Closer' Debuts Promo for Most Provocative Season 7
May 30, 2011 09:05:50"The Closer" will return this summer with its most provocative season, so claimed a new promo for the seventh season. Deputy police chief Brenda Leigh Johnson is back, but something from her past will change everything in the new season.
While she defends herself, insisting that she did nothing wrong, she may not get support from anyone in the LAPD if she does not look out for herself. Kyra Sedgwick reprises her role as Brenda, with Corey Reynolds, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Raymond Cruz and Michael Paul Chan as other cast members.

'The Closer' May Live After All, Without Kyra Sedgwick
January 24, 2011 03:01:01Although TNT and Kyra Sedgwick have both confirmed in December 2010 that the seventh season of "The Closer" will be its last, there's a hope that the show is not ending after all. TV Line and Deadline which are first to report, heard from a few sources that TNT is looking forward to continue the show with several possibilities.
The first one is to extend the final season, ordering additional episodes from 15 to 21 while Sedgwick is still attached by contract. Secondly, the executives may open a whole new chapter which doesn't involve Sedgwick's character, very much like how "The Office" would continue without Steve Carell. The last option is to create a spin-off featuring the show's other characters in different settings.

'The Closer' Coming to an End, Kyra Sedgwick Speaks
December 11, 2010 10:12:20"The Closer" is no more after this upcoming season. TNT, on Friday, December 10, announced that its long-running crime drama will not return beyond the seventh season that airs next year. Production of those final 15 episodes is scheduled to begin next spring.
"It's impossible to fully express our appreciation to Kyra Sedgwick, series creator James Duff and all of the other talented people who brought The Closer to TNT viewers," said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. "The Closer was a pivotal series in setting a new course for TNT's original programming, while also serving as a prime example of the storytelling strength possible on cable television."

Clip From 'The Closer' Season 5 Finale
December 18, 2009 03:12:00In a newly-released clip, Mary McDonnell pushes Kyra Sedgwick to the limit about investigating a spousal abuse case, to the point where there is yelling. McDonnell makes a return as Captain Sharon Raydor on the season 5 finale of "The Closer" this upcoming Monday, December 21.
Capt. Raydor approaches Major Crimes about delicately looking into a possible case of spousal abuse involving one of her female officers. "[Brenda is] put into a very awkward position," creator James Duff said. "She doesn't like having to help out Capt. Raydor. She takes her orders very literally - so literally that she's indirectly responsible for someone being shot."

Clips From 'The Closer' 5.03 and 'Raising the Bar' 2.03
June 19, 2009 10:06:26TNT releases two clips to promote its upcoming Monday line-up, "The Closer" and "Raising the Bar". The former will air at 9/8c with episode "Red Tape" while the latter takes over starting 10/9c with "The Curious Case of Kellerman's Button".
In "Red Tape", Sgt. Gabriel shoots a murder suspect he is certain is armed and firing at him, but the evidence does not match up with his account. Enter Capt. Sharon Raydor (special guest star Mary McDonnell), the head of the Force Investigation Division, whose responsibility is to investigate the shooting. But Raydor's investigation is interfering with Brenda's investigation into the murder, which may have been ethnically motivated.

TNT 'Raising the Bar' of 'The Closer' on Mondays
June 05, 2009 03:06:45"The Closer" is looking at a great change in the fifth season when a member of the squad is gone. In the press release, TNT revealed that Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson "loses someone very dear to her" as she starts adjusting to married life. Lead actress Kyra Sedgwick added, "It'll be quick and painless, and it'll be soon."
The departure is not the only highlighted change in the new season. The intra-office conflict between Sgt. Gabriel and Det. Daniels is resolved for good and another squad member goes through a complete attitude change after falling in love. The economy forces one of Brenda's detectives to take a second job, while the fatal shooting of a suspect leads to career complications for another.

TNT Developing Spin-Off to 'The Closer'
September 05, 2008 01:09:58Golden Globe Awards winning television show "The Closer" will have its spin-off in production. TNT have announced that they have ordered for a script for the spin-off which will be penned by the creator/executive producer James Duff.
In the new project, Duff will be assisted by co-executive producers Adam Belanoff and Michael Berchem. No clue yet as to which character from the cop drama series the spin-off will focus on, or whether it will chronicle only one or the whole cast altogether. According to Hollywood Reporter, industry insiders said that it may be titled "The Fixer".
