On the sophomore sitcom, Helms will play an agent working for the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) whom Det. Jake Peralta () struggles with in order to work a case. He's currently booked for an episode which will air on November 16, but the door is left open for him to return in more episodes.

The network has not commented on the news, but sources tell the site that the 47-year-old actor is shooting his episode this week. Should the report be true, Sandler will reunite with fellow former "SNL" cast member , who has a regular role on the new hit comedy. Sandler and Samberg have also shared screen in 2012's movie "" and "", which was released in theaters earlier this year.

FOX has shown a lot of confidence on its rookie series, "". Not only it picks up the cop comedy for a full season, but also the network gives a post-Super Bowl spot to the show starring "" alum .

"It's exciting to see that both critics and fans love 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' as much as we do," says FOX chairman Kevin Reilly in a statement announcing the show's extended first season run. "With Andy and Andre [Braugher] out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time."
