'Arrested Development' Creator Mitch Hurwitz to Produce New Projects for Netflix

Netflix will continue its partnership with Mitch Hurwitz following the success of "" season 4 which was released via the Internet streaming media. The writer/producer has signed a multi-year deal with the company, so a rep for Netflix has confirmed.

Under the agreement, Hurwitz will create and produce new original series for the streaming giant. "We are lucky to be in business with Mitch Hurwitz, a true genius with one of the most distinctive voices in comedy today," said Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos on Tuesday, April 22. "Mitch's inventive approach to 'Arrested Development' - one of the top TV comedies of this generation - was ahead of its time, and we're fortunate to have him on our team."

'Arrested Development' Cast Coming to 'Inside the Actors Studio'

"" season 5 is yet to get a greenlight, but the stars are set to reunite on-screen again. The cast of the cult comedy will be the next guest on Bravo TV's "Inside the Actors Studio" for an episode set to air Thursday, November 7 at 8 P.M. ET.

Main cast members , , , , Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter are slated to make apperance, but , Tony Hale and are not scheduled to show up. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz will also sit down for an interview with host James Lipton, who has a recurring role as Warden Stefan Gentles on the sitcom.

There could be more "" on Netflix. Executive producer Brian Grazer has spilled the beans that he's currently in negotiations with the streaming service to do a fifth season of the revived comedy.

"We are in conversations with them to do another," Grazer told Bloomberg Television when met at the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Idaho on Thursday, July 11. "They are interested in doing that."

Netflix is open to possibility of bringing another "" season. Although there's still no official plan for a fifth season of the cult comedy, the company's CEO Reed Hastings has said there's hope for that.

"Arrested is unique because that's really up to the talent," he told CNBC on Wednesday, May 29. "If the talent were willing to do more... I'm sure we would be willing." Although the online streaming service wouldn't release the number of viewership, Hastings claimed "Arrested Development" sampling was "huge, just as we had hoped."

On Tuesday, May 28, Netflix's stock fell by more than 6 percent to close at $214.19 as investors reacted to the mixed reviews obtained by the new "Arrested Development" episodes. Though so, IDC analyst Greg Ireland says it's too early to tell whether Netflix's latest original programming will be a hit or a flop for the company.

With a month left before the launch of "" season 4, Netflix hypes the upcoming premiere by releasing a clip. Making its way out via Entertainment Weekly, the video highlights Lucille and Buster's disturbing mother-and-son relationship.

The hilarious scene shows Buster helping Lucille continue her smoking habit although there's a strict no smoking policy in the building and she wears an ankle monitor that prevents her from approaching the balcony. The clip, however, will not make it into the actual episode since it's just an outtake.

Netflix has finally set a premiere date for "" season 4. The Internet streaming media announced on its Twitter page that the new installment of the Mitchell Hurwitz-created series would launch 15 new episodes Sunday, May 26 at 12:01 A.M. PDT.

"" is going to be revived on small screen with a mini TV season. During a "Bluth Family Reunion" at the New Yorker Festival on Sunday, October 2, creator Mitch Hurwitz revealed the plan to continue the critically acclaimed sitcom with nine or ten new episodes leading to the movie release.

Hurwitz further explained that the episodes, which will air next fall, will each focus on a different Bluth to help catch audiences up on the characters' lives in the years since the series ended in 2006. "They f*** everything up," he gushed about what the family did.
