President Obama to Hold Private Screening of '1600 Penn' at White House
January 09, 2013 08:01:37NBC's "1600 Penn" will have a very special screening at the White House on Wednesday, January 9. It was announced that President Barack Obama would hold the private screening with the cast and crew of the fictional comedy series revolving around a dysfunctional first family.
To take place at the White House's family theater, the "closed press" event would likely mark Obama's reunion with his former speech writer Jon Lovett. The writer is now serving as the co-creator of the half-hour comedy, which was first sampled behind "The Voice" last month.

'1600 Penn' Creator and Actor Say Show Is Not About Politics, but Domestic Issue
December 17, 2012 10:12:54Despite revolving around the live of the First Family, "1600 Penn" is not a political show, so Josh Gad states. The co-creator, who also takes the role of the president's son on the upcoming NBC series, stresses, "It's absolutely, absolutely not a political show, and I can't emphasize that enough."
Explaining what the show is really about, he claims, "We never set out to make a political show... We wanted to make a show about a family that happens to live in a world where they are surrounded by politics." He adds, "We never wanted to do a goofball comedy about the White House."

February 25, 2012 11:02:59Bill Pullman and Brittany Snow will have father and daughter relationship on a new NBC pilot, "1600 Penn". It has been announced that Pullman is slated to play a U.S. President named Dale Gilchrist in the comedy project, while Snow is the First Daughter named Becca.
Created by Josh Gad (Book of Mormon), Jason Winer (Modern Family) and Jon Lovett, "1600 Penn" is a "dysfunctional family comedy where the out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only it's biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together.
