The 35 of David Bowie's albums sold for $9,921 (GBP6,201), while the top bid for the Duran Duran oil painting was $1,633 (GBP1,021).
Signed guitars donated by Willie Nelson and Norah Jones were also among the first of the memorabilia items to be sold at the auction, held to raise funds for the Japanese relief effort.
Nelson's guitar went under the hammer for $817 (GBP511), while Jones' fetched $1,312 (GBP820).
French DJ David Guetta's personal computer, which he has used to record his biggest hits, was another big sale - the hitmaker's collectible item went for $3,680 (GBP2,300).
