Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy has been released from prison after serving three-and-a-half years for illegal weapons possession. The star was sentenced in October 2007 after he was found with a .22 calibre pistol on his person following a 2006 arrest in New York.
Prodigy, real name Albert Johnson, walked free on Monday, March 7 and immediately notified fans of his release by posting a photo of himself on Twitter.com. The rapper made the most of his time behind bars - he wrote a memoir, "My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy", which is set for release next month.
He also is expected to return to the studio to start recording some new tracks. "Prodigy will be back in a couple of days!!! Be prepared for another Mobb Depp classic!!!!" the group wrote on its Facebook page.
