The "Twilight" star will play the royal in a new film about a fictional night when teenagers Margaret and Elizabeth were set free from the confines of Buckingham Palace at the end of World War Two.

"The Last Station" director Michael Hoffman will take charge of the film while Trevor De Silva provides the script. Hoffman is currently putting the finishing touches to the Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz starrer "Gambit".

Casting has begun for Elizabeth, according to Daily Variety. The project is due to be introduced to buyers at this year's European Film Market.
