Teen 'Sorry' for Hacking Lady GaGa and Justin Timberlake's Songs

An 18-year-old German whizkid who is part of a hacker gang, apologized for leaking the songs and said he was only interested in the music.

A teenager accused of hacking into computers to steal unreleased songs by stars including Lady GaGa and Justin Timberlake has issued an apology over the scandal. Authorities in Germany launched an official investigation into claims two young men were part of a ring of whizzkids who sent a virus to laptops linked to some of the world's most famous pop singers.

It enabled the cyber-crooks to access files on the machines and download a number of unreleased songs by artists such as GaGa, Timberlake, Rihanna, and Kelly Clarkson. Record company bosses were reportedly forced to put out some albums ahead of the planned release date after the stolen songs were leaked online.

One of the men accused of being part of the hacking gang - an 18 year old identified only as Deniz A. - has now told Germany's Bild newspaper, "I'm sorry for everything I've done - I never thought it would go so far... we were only interested in the music." Charges against the men under investigation have not yet been filed.
