Barbra Streisand is offering up $5 million to the Women's Heart Center at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in Los Angeles. The singer is calling on fans to help raise $5 million for the center and she'll match that with a big money donation of her own, making it a $10 million windfall.

She says, "I wanted to tell you about an exciting new project that I am leading... I hope to raise $10 million for research, treatment and education on women's heart disease. To do this, I have launched a comprehensive internet fundraising campaign using Crowdrise, a new online fundraising community that unites people to raise money for important causes. I have never embarked on a campaign like this before, so this is where I need all of your help."

"I am asking you to join me in supporting the work of the Women's Heart Center by making a donation to the campaign. Visit my project page on Crowdrise and click the large red button to donate. I chose to support the Women's Heart Center at the Cedars-Sinai because of the leadership role they are taking to advance heart care, research and education focused on women."

"Shockingly, we are 50 years behind on the research since up until recently women have been treated based on tests and diagnostics done mostly on men (and heart attacks present differently in women than they do in men). Heart disease is the number one killer of women in our country, more than all other cancers combined. And today, more women die of heart disease than men. Because of these staggering statistics, I am committed to taking on this epidemic, and I need all of your help."
