American football icon Junior Seau has been hospitalized after driving his car off a cliff in California, hours after he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, according to a report. The former San Diego Chargers star, real name Tiaina Baul Seau, Jr., was taken into custody by California police at around 2 A.M. on Monday, October 18 and booked into the Vista Detention Facility following an altercation with an unidentified female.
He was released shortly afterwards, but was the subject of another police investigation hours later when he drove his SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) off the edge of a cliff in Carlsbad, according to TMZ.com. He was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for injuries.
No further details about the two incidents were available as WENN went to press.
Seau, 41, rose to fame with the Chargers during the 1990s and went on to play for the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots.
