Christopher Nolan to Receive Modern Master Award at Santa Barbara Film Fest

The Modern Master Award is the highest honor presented at the festival, created to celebrate film mavericks and accomplished filmmakers and actors.

"Batman Begins" and "Inception" mastermind Christopher Nolan is to be honored with the Modern Master Award at the 26th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival in California in January 2011. The Modern Master Award is the highest honor presented at the festival. It was created to celebrate film mavericks and accomplished filmmakers and actors.

Past recipients include Michael Douglas, Jodie Foster, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Diane Keaton, Sean Penn, Jeff Bridges, Peter Jackson, George Clooney, Will Smith, Cate Blanchett, Clint Eastwood and James Cameron.

Christopher Nolan will return to the helming position for the latest installment of "Batman" movie franchise. With a script provided by his brother Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer, he will direct the Untitled Batman 3 Project with Christian Bale expected to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman.
