Steve McQueen to Be Celebrated on Death Anniversary
The iconic actor who died of tumors in 1980, would be honored in a Jules Verne Festival in Hollywood event called 'The King of Cool Returns to Hollywood'.


Movie icon Steve McQueen is to be celebrated on the 30th anniversary of his death at the 2010 Jules Verne Festival in Hollywood. The actor's family is to be handed the Jules Verne Legendaire Award on behalf of the late star at a gala event on November 11.

The big event, dubbed "The King of Cool Returns to Hollywood", will feature a screening of McQueen's movie classic "Bullitt". The cast of the film will be part of the celebration at the Arclight cinema. The Steve McQueen tribute event is the sixth installment of the Jules Verne Legendaire Awards. Previous honorees have included George Lucas, James Cameron and Tony Curtis.

On November 7, 1980, McQueen died at the age of 50 in Chihuahua, Mexico, following an operation to remove or reduce several metastatic tumors in his abdomen.
