Representing their respective gender, Michael and Pink came on top of Justin Timberlake, Lady GaGa and Bob Marley among others.
Michael Jackson and pop punk Pink have been named the best solo artists of all time in a new online survey. The late "Thriller" hitmaker beat Justin Timberlake and Bob Marley, who came second and third respectively, to land the top male singer accolade in the MySpace.com poll.
In the female category, Pink triumphed over Lady GaGa, Madonna and Britney Spears as the number one pop princess, while rockers AC/DC were lauded as the best band. They were closely followed by Nirvana and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Shortlists of artists were compiled by a panel of Australian music journalists before the poll was opened to the public on MySpace. Fans are being invited to listen to playlists by the winners at myspace.com/myspacetoday.
