Director Apologizes for Disastrous '127 Hours' Screening

Danny Boyle

There were too many tickets issued at the Toronto International Film Festival and there were some technical issues that caused a delay.

Oscar winner Danny Boyle was forced to placate angry cinemagoers at the screening of his new movie at the Toronto International Film Festival - after organizers issued too many tickets for the event. The "Slumdog Millionaire" director debuted his latest film "127 Hours" - starring James Franco as mountaineer Aron Ralston, who was forced to saw off his lower right arm after a boulder fell onto him while he was climbing in Utah in 2003 - at the Canadian festival on Saturday, September 11.

However, the event was dogged with problems after hundreds of fans and critics were turned away because the venue for the screening was too small to accommodate everyone. And once the lucky 500 guests were seated, the screening was marred by technical issues - and was more than an hour late beginning.

Boyle tells Britain's Daily Mail, "It's a total nightmare. We're trying to get screens ready to show the film." But the moviemaker looked on the bright side after apologizing to fans, telling them: "I look forward to hearing all your 127 Hours jokes."
