Kia Shine Ruined a Sweet 16 Bash by Running Late

In his defense, the rapper said he contractually fulfilled his duty and a refund would be like eating a sandwich and asking for the money to be returned.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Kia Shine has been accused of ruining a Sweet 16 birthday bash after turning up several hours late for his performance. Victoria Allen hired the hip-hop star to make her daughter Latranae's milestone celebration in Memphis, Tennessee a night to remember - handing him $1,000 to perform a 20 minute set for 150 teenagers.

But after failing to turn up at the agreed 9 P.M. start time, Shine allegedly didn't begin his set until almost midnight - when only a handful of guests remained. It is also alleged the star performed for just five minutes before exiting the stage. Shine has defended his actions, insisting he kept his side of the bargain.

He tells Memphis news channel WREG, "Contractually Kia Shine showed up, Kia Shine performed, Kia Shine did exactly what he was supposed to do. Her mother had the opportunity, to say 'Hey Shine, if you're not going to be here at 9, 9.30, 10 or whatever, then just don't come.' And then fine, I wouldn't have come and her money would have been refunded back to her completely without any issues."

"It's just like going to a restaurant and saying, hey, eating a sandwich, eating a sandwich or whatever, and waiting to get to the last bite and saying, 'Hey, I want to take this sandwich back, I don't like it.' And you expect a full refund? C'mon, that's not how it works!"
