Asked if he had recently hit 'rock bottom', James replied, 'Yes. To some degree,' when taking the stand in an Orange County court as part of his ongoing custody trial with Janine Lindemulder.
Sandra Bullock's ex-husband Jesse James is still seeking treatment for his personal troubles after telling a court he hit "rock bottom" following his split from the actress. The TV mechanic took the stand in an Orange County, California court on Wednesday, July 14 as part of his ongoing custody trial with his second wife Janine Lindemulder over their six-year-old daughter Sunny.
James was quizzed about his emotional status in recent months after Bullock dumped him following revelations of his infidelity in March. When asked by Lindemulder's lawyer if he had recently hit "rock bottom", he replied, "Yes. To some degree."
James checked into a rehabilitation facility after his marriage split to seek treatment for "personal issues", and told the court, "I am continuing treatment." He choked back tears as he detailed his troubled childhood, claiming he "was a victim of childhood abuse and trauma", and spoke at length about his struggle with alcoholism, which began around the age of 14.
During his testimony, James also revealed how the ongoing legal battle had taken its toll on little Sunny, causing the child to "act out" and suffer from "sleeping problems". James is fighting for the right to take Sunny with him when he moves to Austin, Texas on July 31 to be closer to his ex-wife Bullock and their adopted son Louis.
