'American Beauty' Producer on Duty for 2011 Oscars

Bruce Cohen

'It is a dream come true for me to now be producing the show with the phenomenal Don Mischer,' Bruce Cohen said in a statement.

"American Beauty" producer Bruce Cohen has signed up to take charge of the 2011 Academy Awards. The film mastermind, who won an Oscar for the 1999 drama, will join TV events guru Don Mischer in producing the 83rd annual telecast.

Mischer, who will also direct Hollywood's biggest industry night, has previously helmed TV's Emmy Awards, several Super Bowl half-time shows as well as the opening ceremonies of Winter and Summer Olympics Games.

Cohen says, "I fell in love with the Oscars as an eight-year-old kid, the night my grandmothers let me stay up to watch for the first time. It is a dream come true for me to now be producing the show with the phenomenal Don Mischer, whom I've had an incredible time working with in the past. We hope to create a show that celebrates what people around the world love about the Academy Awards year after year - the excitement, glamour and tradition of Oscar Night itself."

The Academy Awards will be handed out on February 27 at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre and will be televised live around the world.
