Sports-mad rapper Snoop Dogg has $20,000 riding on the Los Angeles Lakers winning the NBA championships after challenging Boston Celtics fan Donnie Wahlberg to the basketball bet.
The "Drop It Like It's Hot" star is an avid Lakers fan and recently issued a public call to supporters of the rival team to put their money where their mouth is after he was taunted about the 3-2 lead the Celtics had over the California team in the run up to Tuesday, June 15 night's Game 6. New Kids On The Block star Wahlberg stepped up to Snoop's dare and the pair agreed to the big money wager, which will be donated to the charity of the winner's choice.
In a video posted online, Snoop says, "What it do, Big Snoop Dogg, Lakers fan number one. Wahlberg what it do? Y'all want that bet? Let's get it crackin'. 20 Gs ($20,000) to your favorite charity, Lakers beat the Celtics, that's what it do!"
But Wahlberg has gone one further - he wants the rap superstar to join him on stage when the reformed boy band plays New York's famous Radio City Music Hall next week to see the loser hand over the charity cheque in person. Taking to his Twitter.com page, Wahlberg writes, "I'll pay for the flight, rooms and expense. The loser steps on stage in the other (team's) jersey to hand over the check!"
The Lakers beat the Celtics 89-67 in Tuesday's play-off to level the series at 3-3. The title winners will now be decided in the final Game 7, when the Boston team heads to Los Angeles on Thursday night.
