Britney Spears has crushed all competition on Twitter.com - the pop princess has become the first person on the social networking site to garner more than 5 million followers.
The "Toxic" hitmaker overtook actor Ashton Kutcher, the first member to reach one million supporters, as the most popular celebrity on the forum last week, but she set a new record by Saturday, May 29 with a fan following of 5,015,346.
And Spears has already been thanking fans for their support - she invited devotees to send in their questions via her Twitter blog and she responded to them throughout the week.
Unlike Kutcher who personally posted his tweets, Spears has a number of people from her management team to post the tweets in addition to herself.
