Scott Weiland: Wives Led Velvet Revolver Into Downfall

Scott Weiland

The former member of Velvet Revolver claims that 'petty jealousies' and rock star wives are the reason which made the rock band falling out.

Rocker Scott Weiland blames "petty jealousies" and rock star wives for supergroup Velvet Revolver's demise, insisting the band felt like a "gang" when it started out. Weiland was kicked out of the group in April 2008 and Velvet Revolver's founders Slash, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan have failed to find a replacement.

The rocker admits relationships between himself and his bandmates soured towards the end, but he takes issue with reports the stars were always fighting. He tells Details magazine, "When Velvet Revolver first got together, it was great. I got to know the guys before. Met Duff at the gym ... I was in rehab with Matt. I'd only met Slash twice - he's not the most social person. We had all been through the same experiences, and it felt like a gang."

"But everyone was a rock star. There were petty jealousies. Then the wives got involved with the business of the band, and that was the beginning of the downfall." Weiland reunited his former group Stone Temple Pilots just before he was axed from Velvet Revolver.
