The Bernie Focker of 'Meet the Fockers' has landed a role of a gambling addict in HBO's new show called 'Luck', starring opposite Dennis Farina and John Ortiz.

Dustin Hoffman is heading to the small screen for a new mini series - playing a gambling addict. The Hollywood legend has taken a role in U.S. network HBO's new show "Luck", which tells the tale of men who are horse racing enthusiasts.

Hoffman will play a pensioner who is recently released from jail and has a passion for gambling, according to Variety.com. Dennis Farina and John Ortiz will also star in the new series, which is set to hit U.S. screens in 2011. It isn't Hoffman's first foray into TV - he won an Emmy in 1986 for his role in TV film "Death of a Salesman".

"Public Enemies" director Micheal Mann will direct "Luck", while Davis Milch will write the script for this new TV show.
