Lily Allen Starts Tweeting Again, Careful Not to Become Too Obsessed

Lily Allen

Declaring that the micro-blogging site is 'addictive and dangerous', the 'Smile' singer says, 'I don't do it as obsessively as I used to.'

Singer Lily Allen has slammed Twitter.com for a second time - branding the social networking site "dangerous", even though she's started using it again. The "Smile" hitmaker stopped blogging in September 2009 and gave away her BlackBerry cell phone over fears she had developed an unhealthy obsession with "destructive" social networking websites.

Allen started posting new messages on her Twitter page earlier this month after returning home to London following a trip to Australia. But the singer is still wary of becoming too attached to the micro-blogging website, because she doesn't want to become self obsessed.

In an interview with Britain's "Live From Studio Five" show, she says, "I sort of 'tweet' here and there, I don't do it as obsessively as I used to. It is very addictive and quite dangerous. I just think there comes a time when... I'm sort of reading people's 'tweets' when they're watching their sons playing football on a Saturday afternoon, I'm like, 'Why don't you just watch your son playing football? Instead of telling the world about it?' I think it can turn you into a sort of self obsessive (person). Why did you think that people would want to know everything that you're doing?' "

"It's quite... it's got negative connotations, I think. But saying that, it can be quite fun. It's a way of communicating with other people - but it's also not, because you're not really communicating with them, you're just typing some words and you feel like language is getting lost."
