Patrick Dempsey has his stint on hit medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" to thank for escaping a speeding ticket on Thursday, February 11 - after a star-struck police officer recognized the actor and let him go. Dempsey, who races professionally in his spare time, admits he finds it "really hard to go slow" on the streets after being behind the wheel of his race cars.
His need for speed landed him in trouble in Los Angeles on Thursday morning, when he was pulled over for driving too fast. But Dempsey managed to charm his way out of getting a ticket when the female officer recognised the TV hunk - and he's publicly thanked her for the kind act.
He says, "I got pulled over. The door opens and it's a female cop. Her name is Vanessa. She's a wonderful officer by the way - I asked (her name). She with her partner, who's a middle-aged man with a mustache looking very grumpy."
"I'm just (thinking), 'I hope she watches the show...' She goes back (to the police car) and I look in the rearview mirror and they're giggling. She comes back and goes, 'I can't give you a ticket.' I've got to thank the Sheriff's Department."
