Charity bosses have heaped praise on Shia LaBeouf after the actor pledged to run a marathon to raise money for U.S. veterans. The "Transformers" star will test his fitness levels when he participates in the Los Angeles Marathon on March 21 on behalf of the non-profit foundation U.S. VETS, which provides support for homeless military veterans.

U.S.VETS President Dwight Radcliff says, "We are delighted and grateful to have Mr. LaBeouf participate in the marathon on our behalf." LaBeouf's dad Jeffrey fought in Vietnam and his paternal grandfather served in the Special Forces, reports E! Online.

Professionally, Shia LaBeouf will be seen starring opposite Michael Douglas, Carey Mulligan and Susan Sarandon in upcoming movie "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps". In the big screen project, which is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on April 23, he stars as Jake "Jacob" Moore.
