Joe Jackson must wait until May 2010 for the judge ruling about his claim of a monthly allowance from his son's estate as he gets opposing filed legal papers from the King of Pop's administrators.

Michael Jackson's father will have to wait until May 2010 to learn whether he can pursue a petition for a monthly allowance from his late son's estate. Joe Jackson filed a claim for a monthly stipend of over $15,000 in November 2009, claiming he relied on the King of Pop's help to survive as he had little income of his own.

In legal papers obtained by TMZ, Joe asked for the cash to cover "maintenance expenses" and to "support his children or grandchildren". However, the Jackson family patriarch's bid was met with hostility from the "Thriller" star's estate - administrators John Branca and John McClain filed documents opposing the claim last week, January 22.

The case was heard in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, January 28, when Judge Mitchell Beckloff set a preliminary hearing for 26 May 2010.
