Kevin Bacon can count philanthropy as one of his recognized qualities - the actor is to be honored by the Broadcast Film Critics Association for his charity work. The "Footloose" star will be handed the Joel Siegel Award - named after the late "Good Morning America" TV film critic - at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards on January 15, 2010.

Bacon has been chosen to receive the trophy for founding website SixDegrees.org, which urges the public to donate to their favorite charities online. The site has raised $3 million ($1.8 million) since its launch in 2007.

Joey Berlin, president of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, says, "Kevin personifies the values celebrated by this award." Bacon will be presented with the prize by his "The River Wild" co-star Meryl Streep.
