Sharing his diagnosis via Facebook, Ray Benson informs fans that he has been wearing mask, washing hands and using hand sanitizer, but is still not immune to contracting COVID-19.

AceShowbiz - Asleep at the Wheel frontman Ray Benson has joined the growing list of celebrities battling the coronavirus.

The singer shared his diagnosis with fans via Facebook on Tuesday (March 31), revealing he had to wait a week to get tested after falling ill.

"Been feeling tired for about 10 days!" he wrote. "Went to be tested on the 21st! No tests so went home! Went back yesterday feelin the same tired out of it and they tested... first call this mornin from lab sayin you got it (sic)!! Hoping for the best don't have the usual symptoms but feel tired head ache no fever no cough!!"

"I'll be ok sure do miss playin music and seein everyone (sic)!"

He then urged his fans and followers to take heed of government guidelines, insisting self-isolation and personal hygiene might not be enough to beat the virus.

"Stay well this s**ts serious (sic)!!" he added. "I have been alone for the most part and wore mask washed hands used hand sanitizer still got it! Do not listen to right wing BS!"

Benson joins Kalie Shorr, Laura Bell Bundy and John Prine among the country artists who have contracted COVID-19. The virus cost singer Joe Diffie his life on Sunday, March 29.
