Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who recently exited Warner Bros.' The Flash movie, are reportedly in talks to direct the big-screen adaptation of the role-playing game for Paramount and Hasbro.

AceShowbiz - Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley jump from a big franchise to another potential tentpole project. The filmmaking duo, who has worked together on such films as "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Game Night", is reportedly close to landing directing gig for "Dungeons & Dragons" movie.

Goldstein and Daley are reportedly in discussions to helm the big-screen adaptation of the hit role-playing game from Hasbro. They are replacing "The Lego Batman Movie" director Chris McKay, who was previously attached to helm the "Dungeons & Dragons" movie.

Michael Gilio is tapped to pen the screenplay. Ansel Elgort was once circling the lead role, when the "Dungeons & Dragons" film was still developed at Warner Bros. However, the rights for the movie eventually left WB for Paramount, which has a production and distribution deal with Hasbro. Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis are producing for AllSpark Pictures, Hasbro's movie arm.

"Dungeons & Dragons" became popular through the late 1970s and 1980s. Numerous games, films and cultural references have been made since then, including the 2000 version of "Dungeons & Dragons" film. It starred Jeremy Irons, Thora Birch, Bruce Payne and Marlon Wayans. The film centers on a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.

Goldstein and Daley were co-writers on various projects, such as "Horrible Bosses" (2011), "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" (2013) and "Horrible Bosses 2" (2014). They also co-directed and co-wrote the fifth film in the "National Lampoon's Vacation" film series, "Vacation" (2015). Their latest project, "Game Night" (2018), in which they served as co-directors, received critical acclaims and became a financial success.

Goldstein and Daley were previously attached to direct The Flash movie for DC and Warner Bros., but it's reported earlier this month that they dropped out of the project after months of tensions over creative differences. The "Spider-Man: Homecoming" scribes reportedly "have a light-hearted approach to the material," while Ezra Miller, who is set to reprise his role as The Flash, wanted a darker take on the material. The Flash movie has now nabbed "It" and "It Chapter Two" director Andy Muschietti.
