In the meantime, the 'Second Act' star has signed on to portray Colombian drug boss Griselda Blanco and to serve as a producer of the movie developed by STX Entertainment.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lopez is considering a director role on her new movie about Colombian drug boss Griselda Blanco.

The 50-year-old actress and singer will star in and produce "The Godmother (2020)", which is based on Blanco's life story, and now sources tell The Hollywood Reporter the project might serve as J.Lo's directorial debut.

Confirming the new movie, Lopez says, "I've been forever fascinated by the story of Griselda Blanco and jumped at the chance to play her onscreen. She is all the things we look for in storytelling and dynamic characters - notorious, ambitious, conniving, chilling."

Blanco rose from poverty in Colombia to become one of the biggest Miami drug trade bosses.

Lopez won't be the first actress to portray Blanco onscreen - Catherine Zeta-Jones played the crime boss in 2017 TV movie "Cocaine Godmother".

The new film is being developed by bosses at STX Entertainment, who also supported J.Lo on her recent romantic comedy "Second Act".
